“East Meets Fresh: Salmon Teriyaki You Can Make at Home”
Teriyaki salmon is a fusion of rich umami and subtle sweetness that perfectly complements the natural fattiness of salmon. Unlike takeout, making it at home ensures a healthier, fresher version. This dish is ideal for a weeknight dinner that tastes like it took hours—but doesn’t.
Ingredients:
- 2 salmon fillets (skin on or off)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For the Teriyaki Sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin (or substitute with a mix of honey and rice vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions:
- Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season salmon with salt and pepper. Sear, skin-side down, for 4–5 minutes until crisp.
- Flip and cook the other side for 3–4 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, pour sauce over salmon, and cook until it thickens slightly and glazes the fish (2–3 minutes).
- Serve with steamed rice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds or green onions.
