“East Meets Fresh: Salmon Teriyaki You Can Make at Home”

Teriyaki salmon is a fusion of rich umami and subtle sweetness that perfectly complements the natural fattiness of salmon. Unlike takeout, making it at home ensures a healthier, fresher version. This dish is ideal for a weeknight dinner that tastes like it took hours—but doesn’t.

Ingredients:

  • 2 salmon fillets (skin on or off)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin (or substitute with a mix of honey and rice vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions:

  1. Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Season salmon with salt and pepper. Sear, skin-side down, for 4–5 minutes until crisp.
  4. Flip and cook the other side for 3–4 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low, pour sauce over salmon, and cook until it thickens slightly and glazes the fish (2–3 minutes).
  6. Serve with steamed rice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds or green onions.
